Nostalgia

They’re on a nostalgia/anti-nostalgia kick over at http://lileks.com/bleat/ and it got me thinking. Many’s the time I have been heard to say “They don’t make stuff like they used to.”

But last week I slammed on the brakes in my vehicle, and my soda launched up from the cup holder. It rotated end over end, bounced off of the console, and landed at my feet. Total spillage: two drops.

When I was a kid, the lid would have come off first, and the spinning up would have ejected soda all over the interior of the car.

I humbly submit that soda lids have improved VASTLY since the ’60’s.
