Hip Surgery

Latest update:  the orthopod is coming in from Johnson City and will operate to repair the hip this afternoon.  There are two cases ahead of him and the charge nurse has warned me not to expect any real movement until after 3:00 PM.

When he was speaking to one of the doctor’s, he said he had a crazy dream:  he dreamed he needed his oxygen, and couldn’t reach it.  Then he woke up on the floor.  He was ON supplemental oxygen at the time, so he was definitely hallucinating.  My wife and I will be headed over there this afternoon.

Y’see, while the pulmonologist has given his blessing to surgically repair the hip, Dad’s lungs are so bad that they want me around just in case hard decisions have to be made.  Even a relatively healthy person takes a small risk when going under general anesthesia.  But Dad’s lungs are very bad.  I’m told not to worry.  Nobody expects any problems, and my presence is just to help him relax, and “just in case.”

Bleh.
