Flowers for Mother’s Day

Oh ouch.  I just got my first e-mail reminder from flowers.com.  Mother’s day is coming and I need to order my annual bouquet for Mom for mothers day.

Except that I don’t need to do that any more.  I won’t need to do that ever again.

*sniff*

No point in sending them to her grave. She can’t see ’em there. Ok – somebody’s mother is getting flowers on Mother’s Day, in rememberance of Mom.  In defiance of death, a bouquet is going somewhere.

  1. you could deliver single flowers, by hand to every woman in your life with a hug, thanking them for “mothering you” even if they aren’t a biological mother of a human being.

So many many women really HURT on mother’s day.

    Just a suggestion.

  2. And there are those of us who hurt because of loss. Yes, give flowers to *someone* on remembrance of Mother’s Day. Even if I have to give them to Peg, she’s the only mother I have left. Even if she doesn’t realize it.

  3. that is such a good point.

looks like you have a real opportunity on your hands here Will

  4. I give flowers to my sisters and to Miki’s Mom and we all usually go out to dinner. But then I also plant something in rememberance of my Mom, not necessarily on Mother’s day. I’ve got lots of Rosemary bushes and Lily of the Valley that remind me of her and I add to those each year.

  5. I hate those unexpected slaps in the face/punches in the gut like that.

I hope you are able to turn it into something positive, no matter what option you choose.

  6. Will…..Give this a thought….There are thousands of Mothers in Nursing Homes who no longer have family that come and visit…..Maybe sending flowers to one of those Mothers would do much to put Light into their day….

And I do understand what you are going through…

  7. *hugs*
